Ohlone College
Fremont, CaliforniaCambridge Architectural wove 1,451 square feet of Midshade Mesh panels with a 42% open area. The Ohlone name was etched on the mesh with a background tree design to promote campus identity. Sandblasting the raw stainless created a dull matte finish to form the letters and tree. The mesh is attached to a steel frame using Cambridge’s Eclipse tube attachment system. It offers shading to the southern exposure.
The stainless steel fabric is in keeping with the college’s desire to create a green building that incorporated materials that were recycled or salvaged from demolition. Cambridge mesh is manufactured from recycled materials and has a virtually maintenance-free, indestructible lifecycle.
